UCLA PAC Program People-Animal Connection

August 2000
People-Animal Connection volunteer owner/dog teams bring their unconditional love and attention to patients who may be experiencing pain, loneliness or depression. The dogs help patients with physical therapy and visit pediatrics, adult, adolescent, geriatric and intensive care units. Patients experience increased levels of awareness, improved expressions of speech, an ability to perform new levels of activity and a happier state of mind that promotes healing. Founder and Director, Kathie Cole, RN,MN,CCRN started this wonderful pet therapy program in 1994 at the UCLA Medical Center.
